The climate of Macao has nurtured its residents and their culture, and the negative impacts of climate change have given rise to the wisdom of Macao residents to respond to protect their culture and heritage and reveal their cultural resilience.
Macao was called ‘Amacao’ previously in Portuguese, and called ‘Haojing Ao’ in Chinese. Since Portuguese have reached here in 16th Century, for the next five centuries, people from different countries or backgrounds continuously chose to settle in Macao for better lives. Ever after, different cultures brought by these immigrants have also integrated and developed in Macao, becoming the Macao’s unique multicultural context contemporarily.
"Where to play?" "Come with me to Macao!" Nowadays, Macao is known as the " World Centre of Tourism and leisure" with the rich cultural and entertainment resources. The rise and decline of all kinds of games represented the emotions and collective memories of Macao residents towards "entertainment" .
For every city, it is their unique architecture that can give historical value and refined meaning. Without these buildings, Macao would be as silent as many other cities. The Portuguese stepped into Macao for the first time five hundred years ago, and Macao became destined to achieve a new page in its architectural history.
The project “Lives in Between: Macau Modern Architecture Ecosystem” looks into Macau’s living spaces and places in the context of its evolution as a diverse and multi-layered city from the past into the current modern city. By focusing on ten Modern Architectural Heritage buildings in Macau, and by interweaving them into the local historical, social, and cultural fabric, it contributes to the better understanding of the significance of modern heritage sites.

Heritage is created, inherited, and shared by the community. This event is to encourage the understanding on cultural heritage resources in local community and emphasize the importance of cultural heritage to the community. To investigate the situations and changes of Mong-Há, interview was used in order to let the citizens in Mong-Há express their stories.
